Over the course of the Somerville High School Building Project, a range of monuments, memorials, dedications, and art pieces that currently sit on Central Hill will be removed, stored during construction, and reinstalled either back on Central Hill or at another location in Somerville.
These include: 1. Memorial Cannons 2. Korean War Memorial 3. Class of 2010 Stone 4. First Congregational Unitarian Society Memorial 5. Anthony V. Fedele Way Sign 6. Somerville High Honor and Progress Plaque 7. Memorial Bench 8. Art Globe 9. Memorial Brick 10. Pay Phone Art Box 11. Vietnam Memorial 12. Women of the Union Square Post Plaque Memorial 13. Civil War Memorial A. Dilboy Monument B. Somerville Honor Roll C. Spanish War Monument
Items denoted in yellow on the map above are monuments that will be removed from Central Hill as part of the SHS Reconstruction Project. They’ll undergo restoration, then they’ll be safely stored for the duration of construction. They’ll ultimately be reinstated either back on Central Hill or at another location in Somerville. Their final locations will be determined as part of the Central Hill Campus Plan. These monuments include:
